Our Curriculum – What do the Students Learn? children

In our tribal schools, we provide education till grade 5, and in our rural/slum schools, we provide education till grade 10. The children in our schools come from rural and tribal areas where staples of daily life in many regions – fresh drinking water, home structures that can withstand the elements, and an income – simply do not exist. The children who are raised in such a lifestyle require additional education to supplement the academic curriculum found in the Government-run schools.

Our aim is not only to impart an academic, syllabus-based education, but also to focus on the child's overall personality development. We emphasize local cultures and traditions, family values and progressive attitudes. Also, due to the particular needs facing our students, we pay special attention to inculcating values related to health and hygiene. The state curriculum is taught in English, and in addition there is also instruction in the local language.

The children are taught to take responsibility for their own schools and surrounding environment, inculcating human values at a young age. By doing so, the students imbibe a sense of social responsibility.

The children participate in tree-planting campaigns. They form debating, sports and literary clubs and organize cultural events for the annual day and Teacher’s day events. Children also participate in programs such as ARTExcel, which is currently offered around the world through the Art of Living Foundation. Our rural program also includes computer workshops that help build the children’s confidence in information technology, and improve their performance in school. In our largest school, we offer an annual field trip to the program graduates to major historic and cultural sites in their State.
